Lokal is excited to bring our Gluten Free Market to Vancouver Island!

Our Gluten Free Markets are built around one very specific community. These aren't general markets where gluten-free happens to be one category among many. Visitors come specifically to discover, shop from and support gluten-free businesses.

Our Calgary Gluten Free Markets typically welcome 500–700 dedicated gluten-free shoppers in just five hours, with many guests lining up before the doors even open.

For our first Sidney event, we will have space for approximately 50 indoor vendors plus 4 food trucks.

MARKET HOURS

Vendor Setup: 8:00 AM–10:00 AM
Doors Open: 10:00 AM
Market Closes: 3:00 PM
Vendor Tear Down: 3:00 PM–5:00 PM

Vendors must be completely set up and ready to sell before doors open at 10:00 AM.

Please do not begin tearing down before the market closes at 3:00 PM.

INDOOR VENDOR BOOTHS

Single Booth – $210 + GST

Each booth includes:

• 9 ft wide × 6 ft deep vendor space
• One 6 ft table
• One chair
• Access to a dedicated gluten-free shopping audience
  
• 100 loot bags available to add samples

A double booth gives you:

18 ft wide × 6 ft deep

Regular price for two booths: $420
Double booth price with 10% OFF: $378 + GST

ELECTRICAL

Electrical is available inside Bodine Hall.

The first 15 approved vendors requesting electrical will receive it FREE as they are regular outlets. (Please only use one plug of your outlet)

After those first 15 electrical spaces have been allocated, there will be a $50 electrical charge.

Electrical at Mary Winspear Centre is dropped from the ceiling (after our 15 permanent outlets) to your booth location, so advance notice is required.

Please indicate on your application if you require power.

IMPORTANT VENUE RULES

Mary Winspear Centre is a professional event venue and we need all vendors to respect the building.

Nothing may be attached to:

• Walls
• Windows
• Pillars or poles
• Doors
• Permanent venue fixtures

This includes tape, hooks, nails, screws, adhesives, signs or decorations.

All signage and displays must be completely freestanding within your booth space.

FOOD VENDORS

Indoor food vendors are welcome; however, cooking, heating or warming food inside Bodine Hall is not permitted.

Food should arrive fully prepared.

Chafing dishes containing prewarmed food are permitted.

If your setup involves equipment or a preparation method that you believe may be acceptable but you're unsure, please contact us before submitting your application.

FOOD TRUCKS

We have space for a maximum of 4 food trucks outside the hall.

Food Truck Space – $210 + GST (FOOD TRUCKS MUST BE 100% GLUTEN FREE)

Because only four food-truck spaces are available, applications will be reviewed to help provide guests with a good variety of food and beverage options.

Food trucks are responsible for having all licences, health approvals, inspections and permits required to operate in Sidney.

Please provide information about your truck, menu and space requirements when applying.

• Food trucks

• Health and wellness businesses relevant to the community

• Other businesses directly connected to gluten-free living
• Pottery
• Jewllery
• Woodwork
• Paintings

Home-based businesses are welcome to apply provided they meet all applicable food-safety and regulatory requirements in BC.

GLUTEN-FREE STANDARDS

Because this is a dedicated Gluten Free Market, transparency with customers is extremely important.

Vendors must accurately communicate how and where their products are produced and disclose potential cross-contact risks.

Vendors must be 100% Gluten Free:

• Celiac-Safe

Our goal is to allow shoppers to make informed decisions based on their individual needs.

• Gluten Free certification is not a requirement to participate as a vendor.
• *Products or your table should be labelled Gluten Free or May contain depending on your business/products.

WHY VICTORIA?

Lokal has been producing dedicated gluten-free markets in Calgary for several years, building a loyal community of shoppers who specifically seek out gluten-free products and businesses.

Our Calgary markets regularly attract 500–700 visitors during a five-hour market, and it is common to see shoppers waiting outside before opening.

Now we're bringing that same focused market concept to Vancouver Island.

Rather than trying to appeal to everyone, our marketing is specifically designed to reach people living with celiac disease, gluten intolerance and households actively purchasing gluten-free products.

That means vendors aren't simply getting foot traffic.

They're getting the right foot traffic to see shoppers fill their bags.

LIMITED SPACE

Bodine Hall will accommodate approximately:

50 indoor vendor spaces
4 food truck spaces

Applications are reviewed before acceptance, and submitting an application does not automatically guarantee a booth.

Once your application has been approved, payment information and additional vendor instructions will be sent to you.
