Market Guidance:

Set-up starts: 8:00 AM

Doors open: 10:00 AM

Market closes: 3:00 PM

Please vacate the event space by 4:00 PM.

Power Outlets:

The venue has limited power outlets. If you signed up for electricity, please bring an extension cord for access as some outlets might be further from your booth. Please do not overload your power outlet, be mindful, and use small appliances, using only one plug of your outlet at a time.

Volunteers:

We have volunteers available throughout the day to assist you with moving in and out or watching your booth. Look for the volunteers in their identifiable shirts.

Market Ticket Information:

Attendees require tickets obtained through Eventbrite or at the door. Vendors do not need tickets to attend. We now offer card and cash payments at the door. $4.50 total

Table Rentals and Chair Availability:

Tablecloths are not provided. Each booth includes one chair, and extra chairs will be available for public seating. You must bring your own table if you did not rent one from us.

Parking and Unloading:

After unloading at the front doors, please park on the side of the street to ensure easy access to the parking lot for our guests.

On-Site Cooking:

On-site cooking is allowed only for those who have rented the kitchen space or are Food Truck Vendors. Ensure all warm food items are pre-warmed and kept hot. Slight reheating is microwave and toaster allowed unless it becomes a concern for air quality or a fire hazard.

AHS:

Please ensure that you follow all AHS guidelines. If you are unsure if you have to bring a temporary hand washing set-up ask us to send you one the information.

If you run out of product:

In the event that you should sell out of your products at the market early, you are required to stay until the market is finished and represent your booth. Let the market organizer know that you are sold out; we can then monitor the situation with other vendor stock to see if action needs to be taken.

Market Policy:

  1. Product Guidelines

All products sold at the market must be strictly vegan, meaning they must not contain any animal products, by-products, or derivatives such as meat, dairy, eggs, honey, gelatin, leather, or any other animal-derived ingredient or material. No exceptions will be made.

We also ask that you label all products clearly, including any allergens or dietary restrictions. This will help customers make informed choices about what they buy.

In addition, all vendors must comply with any relevant health and safety regulations, including those related to food preparation and handling. Your products must follow AHS (Alberta Health Services) and CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency) guidelines for your specific food items.

  1. Table Options

Bring your own table 8ft max length or we can provide one for a small fee. Fees are outlined in the application form.

  1. Payment

Payment can be made via invoice, all payment options will show up on the invoice.

  1. Refund Policy

If you are unable to attend the market, we will provide a full refund if we are notified at least 21 days prior to the event. A 50% refund is given if you cancel between the 14-21 day mark prior to the event date. No refunds will be given for cancellations made 14 days or less prior to the event.

  1. Electricity

If you require electricity, please let us know in advance. We will do our best to accommodate your needs, but please note that there may be limitations to the number of outlets available. Please bring a extension cord if you request electricity.

  1. Health and Safety

We take the health and safety of our vendors and customers very seriously. Please ensure that your products are stored and displayed safely, and that you have appropriate hand sanitizing facilities available.

All vendors must comply with any relevant health and safety regulations, including those related to food preparation and handling. Alberta Health Services requires that all food vendors complete and submit the "Temporary Food Establishment Notification Form" and the "Food Vendor Checklist" prior to the event. Please ensure that you have completed these forms and send them to us no later than May 15th, 2023 via email to lokal.yyc@gmail.com. Please have these forms available at your vendor station during the market.

  1. Acknowledgement of Traditional Land

We would like to take a moment to acknowledge that the land on which we will be holding this event is the traditional territory of the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprised of the Siksika, Kainai, and Piikani Nations), as well as the Tsuut’ina Nation and the Stoney Nakoda (including the Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Wesley Bands) Nations. We recognize their longstanding relationship with this land, which continues to this day, and we are committed to honouring their contributions and respecting their ongoing stewardship of the land.

Volunteer Policy for Lokal Markets

The purpose of this volunteer policy is to provide a clear understanding of the responsibilities, expectations, and benefits of volunteering with Lokal Markets. Volunteers play a critical role in helping us achieve our mission of promoting veganism and supporting local vegan businesses. This policy outlines the guidelines for all volunteers who work with us.

Volunteer Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must have a strong interest in veganism, animal rights, and supporting local vegan businesses
  • Must be reliable and committed to fulfilling the duties assigned to them
  • Must follow all policies and procedures of Lokal Markets
  • Must attend any necessary training sessions if necessary.

Volunteer Duties

  • Assist with setup and cleanup of the market
  • Help vendors with setup and sales
  • Provide information to customers about the market and vendors
  • Assist with marketing and promoting the market
  • Help with head counts, raffle sales, greeting guests etc.
  • Attend meetings and training sessions as required

Volunteer Benefits

  • Gain experience in event planning and promotion
  • Learn about veganism and local vegan businesses
  • Meet like-minded individuals and build connections in the community
  • Receive a letter of recommendation and recognition for their contributions upon request

 Volunteers will be managed by the Volunteer Coordinator, who will assign duties, provide training, and supervise their work. Volunteers must communicate any concerns or issues to the Volunteer Coordinator.

Volunteer Code of Conduct

Volunteers must follow the code of conduct of Lokal Markets. This includes:

  • Treating all vendors, customers, and fellow volunteers with respect and courtesy
  • Maintaining confidentiality of any sensitive information
  • Following all safety procedures and guidelines
  • Reporting any incidents or concerns to the Volunteer Coordinator

Termination of Volunteer Status The volunteer status of any individual may be terminated at any time for any reason deemed appropriate by Lokal Markets. This includes failure to follow policies and procedures, inappropriate behavior, or lack of commitment.
